Moon Duo is comprised of couple Ripley Johnson (Wooden Shjips) and Sanae Yamada, with John Jeffery manning the skins. The band’s trademark is uniquely theirs: a torrent of visceral blotchy psychedelics which are inventively combined with the minimalist pop of Suicide. Inflammatory music that submerges and manifests within the subconscious like a moving rorschach ink drawing.

Moon Duos’s new album Occult Architecture Vol. 1 takes inspiration from Chinese occult esoteria, fantasy writers like Aleister Crowley and the ever-changing seasons of Johnson and Yamada’s home base: Portland, Oregon. Sonically it’s the most versatile and cleanly produced album by Moon Duo to date, fusing dark hardrock, repetitive kraut vestiges, post-punk and industrial.
