The easiest way to explain it: Walter TV is –kind of – Mac DeMarco without Mac DeMarco. Alright, alright, Mac manned the skins in Walter TV in the past. But this band is predominantly the brainchild of Pierce McGarry, the feller who directs DeMarco’s zany videos. Musically speaking, Walter TV is quite the elusive bunch: the absurd, bizarre humor that often permeates in the lyrics, the effect-distorted instrumentation gives the band a sinister edge. In short, Walter TV’s pretty much its own weird little pocket universe.

In spirit, you could make comparisons to Ariel Pink, Ween, or Homeshake’s malformed brother locked in the attic, another band spawned from DeMarco’s ’jizz jazz’ clique. Walter TV’s new album’s called Carpe Diem, the well-known credo for ‘plucking the day’. A nice advice to follow by witnessing these professional pranksters up close.
