Låpsley

London Grammar, James Blake, The xx, Jack Garratt

Låpsley is one of those extraordinary talents that only pops out of the woodwork ever so often. Initially, the 20-year old producer/songwriter unloaded a handful of songs she made in her bedroom on SoundCloud, for the sole reason of sharing them with family abroad. Things turned out remarkably different: numerous blogs and A&R types got wind and became smitten by Låpsleys eerily beautiful concoction of classical pop and left-field R&B.

Now signed to the illustrious XL Recordings (Adele, FKA Twigs), Låpsley has shown plenty of incentive that her career arc isn’t incidental luck, but a valid eventuality. Her debut LP Long Way Home puts her prowess and imagination as a producer, vocalist and musician on glorious display. Sparse meditations (Station) co-exist with post-modern disco (Operator), maintaining an exquisite balancing act between grand torch songs and sparse experimentalism.

After a highly memorable show at Motel Mozaïque a year ago, we’re happy to announce Låpsley’s return to Rotterdam with a show at LantarenVenster.

This show his hosted by Motel Mozaïque, Rotown and LantarenVenster.
