When it comes to pulling off riff-heavy rock as lavishly and refined as possible, Shaking Godspeed pretty much owns The Netherlands. The band is notorious for their intrepid reinvention and sparkplug live-performances. This time around, Shaking Godspeed is in cahoots with theatre-ensemble Orkater. Together they wrote the play De Kring van Welsch, a story based on a secret society from the sixties that employs an alternative life ethos, much different from the traditional family-based hierarchy.

Shaking Godspeed penned the soundtrack Rumspringa, which in itself is a heart-stopping musical junket that tests the band’s utmost limits. For one, Shaking Godspeed opted to sing in the native Dutch tongue for the first time. Manic first single Small Talk is a whirlwind of stylistic shifts, encompassing desert blues, country, prog rock and spoken word in the vast conceptual framework. Once again, Shaking Godspeed doesn’t fail to surprise and enthrall. Rumspringa will be released by Suburban Records on June 10th.
