In januari 2015 stonden twee vedetten uit de vaderlandse hiphopscene, Opgezwolle’s Rico & Sticks, voor het eerst sinds jaren samen op het podium in Bitterzoet Amsterdam. Deze spontane set vol klassiekers bracht de heren op het idee twee Rico & Sticks #OpgezwolleTotNu-shows in te plannen in thuishonk Zwolle. Binnen één uur verkochten de heren deze twee shows in Hedon uit, wat al aangeeft hoe belangrijk Opgezwolle is geweest voor de muziekcultuur in Nederland.

De #OpgezwolleTotNu shows werden twee legendarische avonden, waar zowel oudere en jongere tjappies en mammies samen kwamen. Na 15 jaar is het materiaal van Opgezwolle, Fakkelbrigade, Kubus & Rico, Sticks & Moon, Rico & ART en Great Minds nog springlevend, fris en relevant. Nergens bleek dat duidelijker dan op Lowlands, waar Rico & Sticks de Alpha-tent volledig afbraken. Dit smaakt uiteraard naar meer! Vandaar dat Rico & Sticks nu ook in Annabel te zien zullen zijn.

Dit concert wordt georganiseerd in samenwerking met Rotown, Motel Mozaique Concerts en Annabel.

Back in January 2015 two major icons of the Dutch hip hop scene performed together again for the first time in years: Opgezwolle’s Rico & Sticks. This impromptu set at Bitterzoet not only revived an abundance of classics, it also prompted the duo to organize two Rico & Sticks #OpgezwolleTotNu-shows in their hometown of Zwolle. It was a swift reminder of Opgezwolle’s immense cultural impact on Dutch music culture.

Both #OpgezwolleTotNu-shows were the stuff of legends, with both old and young zealots rejoicing together. After fifteen years in the rap game, the combined work of Opgezwolle, Fakkelbrigade, Kubus & Rico, Sticks & Moon, Rico & ART and Great Minds still sounds as fresh, vibrant and timeless as ever. This was most evident at Lowlands, where Rico & Sticks set the entire Alpha Tent ablaze. Indeed, it would be such a tease to stop there. Luckily, Rico & Sticks have now set their sights on Annabel.
