Mich schrijft sluimerende wavepop, kraut en shoegaze in het verlengde van Lush, The Telescopes en Joy Division. Bastiaan Bosma, die we vooral kennen als het podiumbeest van wijlen Aux Raus, richt zich als frontman van Mich op propere ‘muzikantenmuziek’, zoals ze dat noemen.

Naast Bosma bestaat Mich uit een kliek ervaren Amsterdamse muzikanten die in verschillende projecten de sporen hebben verdiend: Mick Johan (drums), Piet Parra (gitaar), Rimer London (toetsen) en Sofie Winterson, die in de livebezetting bas en extra zang voor haar rekening neemt.

Inhoudelijk gezien is Mich nog een relatief mysterieuze band. De muziek is in ieder geval van “misantropische” aard en de buitenwereld moet het voorlopig doen met een “laughing bursting with tears-smiley”. Vaag? Dat absoluut. Maar je kunt het ook zien als een passief-agressieve uitnodiging om de muziek van Mich daadwerkelijk te ondergaan in plaats van te ontleden.

Mich writes sturdy opaque-sounding wavepop, kraut and shoegaze music akin to Lush, The Telescopes and Joy Division. Bastiaan Bosma, best known as the untamed tour de force behind the late Aux Raus, is the dynamo that bolsters this supergroup. Besides Bosma,Mich consists of a clique of experienced Amsterdam-based musicians: Mick Johan (drums), Piet Parra (guitar), Rimer London (keys) and Sofie Winterson, who performs bass and additional vocals in Mich’s live unit.

All things considered, Mich is still relatively mysterious band. The self-inscribed “misanthropic” nature and “laughing bursting with tears-smiley” pose more questions than answers. Vague? Absolutely. But you can also see it as a passive-aggressive invitation to actually experience Mich’s music instead of anatomizing it.
