Gun Outfit is based in Olympia, which has been an important wellspring of American alternative rock for over two decades, thanks in large part to the riot grrrl-movement and renowned indie label K-Records. This band spearheaded by Dylan Sharp and Carrie Keith has roots in hardcore, but have since veered towards grainy psych pop tunes with reverie-like, impressionistic traits. If this were the eighties, Gun Outfit would be a hand-in-glove fit in the K-Records catalog alongside Beat Happening or The Microphones. Those who own plaques of vinyl by these artists – as well as luminaries such as Sonic Youth and Yo La Tengo – will feel right at home tonight at Light Vessel 11!
